Ballet and Opera select chorus members to sing in The Nutcracker

OMAHA – Oct. 23, 2014 – American Midwest Ballet and Opera Omaha auditioned a record 24 young singers to perform as the North Wind Chorus during the Land of Snow scene in American Midwest Ballet’s production of the holiday classic The Nutcracker. Fourteen girls ages 11 to 16 were selected.
Singers auditioned individually over the course of three hours at Opera Omaha’s rehearsal hall at 1850 Farnam Street on Wednesday, October 22.
“We were especially impressed with the high level of talent with this group,” said Erika Overturff, artistic director of American Midwest Ballet.
This year marks the fourth season for the collaboration between the two arts organizations.
