American Midwest Ballet announces Season 9 new dancers and promotions

OMAHA, NE – July 31, 2018 – Artistic Director Erika Overturff has announced new dancers and promotions within the company for the 2018 – 19 Season.

“After reviewing numerous audition reels and resumes, ballet master Matthew Carter and I invited forty dancers from all over the country to audition with us this spring,” says Overturff. “There was a tremendous level of interest in the company in our upcoming ninth season – our very first as American Midwest Ballet.”

New to American Midwest Ballet this season are Cameron Miller, Kelanie Murphy, Remmi Hartmann and Madeline Koesters.

“I am excited to work with this talented group during our upcoming season,” says Overturff.

The company also promoted five returning dancers to company artists. Promoted this season are Whitney Walsh, Kogan Murphy, Rachel Smith, Nora Carr and Katerina Schweitzer.

“When looking at potential artists, we promote dancers from within our ranks first, whenever possible,” says Overturff. “We are fortunate to have such a strong group of incredibly talented dancers as our foundation.”

Returning this season are dancers Erin Alarcon, Claire Goodwillie, Bret Samson, Kelsey Schwenker, Sasha York, Katie van der Mars, Rebecca Brenner, Anna Swenson, Ryan Christopher, Katherine Eppink, Alyssa GrimsleyAmaris Sharratt, Alexandra Hoffman, Anders Southerland, Wyatt Payne, and Elena Carter, along with Carter and Overturff,

“Each season, we say it is going to be ‘our best season yet’” smiles Overturff. “And each season, it’s true!”

The company’s ninth season begins today.
