Over 1,000 students attend 'Momentum' youth matinee

In collaboration with Omaha Public Schools, Joslyn Art Museum and Nebraska Arts Council, American Midwest Ballet welcomed over one-thousand students to its two student matinee performances of Momentum Oct. 18 and 19 at Witherspoon Hall.

ABOVE: Sarah Tracy, a member of American Midwest Ballet’s junior repertory ensemble, prepares for her role in Matthew Carter’s original ballet ‘Sadako,’ which is also a children’s book ‘Sadako and the Thousand Cranes.’ Sarah shares the role of a young Japanese heroine with fellow junior repertory member, Cassidy Kugler.

“Providing opportunities to make ballet accessible to young people as a component of their arts education is part of American Midwest Ballet’s overall mission,” says artistic director, Erika Overturff. “The enthusiasm and appreciation of our young audiences makes it a great experience for our company as well.”
Momentum premieres Friday, Oct. 19 at 8 pm at Joslyn’s Witherspoon Hall with a second show Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 pm.  Tickets available online or by calling Ticket Omaha at (402) 345-0606.
