Fredrick Davis was born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Chattanooga, TN, where he began his training on full scholarship with Ballet Tennessee. He was accepted by Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble and had the privilege to work with Arthur Mitchell, and then was promoted to company member under direction of Virginia Johnson. There, he danced distinguished roles in numerous productions, including George Balanchine’ s Agon, Alvin Aliey’s Lark Ascending, and Ulysses Dove’s Dancing on the Front Porch of Heaven.

Fredrick has performed with Dance Theatre of Harlem on national and international tours, and also served as a U.S. Ambassador for Dance Theatre of Harlem in Kingston, Jamaica, St. Thomas, and Honduras. Other highlights of his incredible career include performing at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY, the Donald McKayle honors performance in Irvine, CA, and The Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, DC. 

A sought-after performer, Fredrick has served as a guest artist for Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Ballet Tucson, Dance Theatre of Harlem, San Jose Dance Theatre Company, New Jersey Ballet Company, and Connecticut Ballet. 

Fredrick is featured in the award-winning documentary From the Streets to the Stage: the Journey of Fredrick Davis, sharing the story of his life beginning as a homeless child on the street and transcending to be a world-class ballet dancer.

Fredrick has been a guest artist and choreographer for Neville Dance Theatre and is thrilled to join American Midwest Ballet as a dancer and choreographer for Season 12.
