OMAHA — June 27, 2017 — While summer may be a time of sunshine, lemonade and fireworks, for American Midwest Ballet it feels like the winter holidays! Online registrations for youth auditions for The Nutcracker are now open.
“Casting student roles well before rehearsals begin in late September allows us to work on all of the magnificent costumes and many special details throughout the summer,” said artistic director Erika Overturff.
Registration is required to attend auditions. All youth dancers and singers within the community who meet the age requirements are invited to attend. There is no fee to audition.
Audition dates:
- July 14 – Auditions for singers (age 11+) and dancers (age 13+)
- July 15 – Auditions for dancers (ages 7-12)
Results will be posted Monday, July 17 with costume fittings scheduled for that same week.
The Nutcracker opens with a special pre-Thanksgiving performance at Arts Center at Iowa Western on Nov. 19, followed by a three-show run at the Orpheum Dec. 2 and 3.
American Midwest Ballet’s season also includes Momentum: Fosse Style! (Oct. 20-22 at Orpheum and Arts Center), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (May 5-6, 2018 at Orpheum), and several tours to Vero Beach, Florida.
